invitation to other dancers in the International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs to "fly in" for the weekend. TAGSDC is the umbrella organization for gay and lesbain square dance clubs in the United States, Canada, and most recently Australia. The Cleveland group is one of 48 clubs that belong to the association, and they are in their ninth year with 35 active members.
The weekend's event will begin on Friday, October 6 with a Trail-In Dance, Country Western Dancing and of course, bar hopping, and will continue through Saturday and Sunday with sightseeing, workshops, a boat cruise and more dancing.
Stan Kawecki, the president of the Cleveland club said it "is a very social club. We do a lot of things besides dance." Kawecki said that they are planning to send a contingent to San Francisco's Pride festival next year. He invited people who are interested in square dancing to come join the fun. The club dances every Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:30 Ferron pm at Archwood United Church of Christ, on Archwood Ave. just cast of Pearl Rd. Everyone is welcome. Registration prices for the fly-in weekend vary. For further information contact Don Muntz at 216-531-1265.
'Twilight' at Reality Theatre
The Twilight of The Golds, a play by Jonathon Tolins, will appear at The Reality Theatre, 736 North Pearl Street in Columbus. The story revolves around the Gold family of New York, a family facing a crisis. Suzanne is pregnant with her first child when ©she learns through genetic testing that the child will grow up to be gay. She shares this information with her family which includes a brother who is gay. Suzanne's weakness and indecision lead to the dramatic climax as she allows her family to give their sincere, yet opposing opinions.
Twilight alternates between "slice of life" and grand theatre, between funny and tragic, offering the audience a glimpse of the historic themes of “natural selection" and the "pro-life/pro-choice" debate, as well as Hitler's quest for the "superior race.”
The show runs September 14-16, 21-23, 28-30, October 5-7. All performances are at 8:00 p.m. For ticket information, call the Reality Theatre box office at 614-294-7541.
